Transition Information

3 Steps to take before January 1, 2027

1

Get Ready for Your New ID Card

Same doctors. Same hospitals. New card.

Your medical provider network (Anthem BlueCard PPO) is not changing, so there is nothing to look up. What changes is who administers your medical plan: AmeriBen.

1. Keep using your current Anthem ID card through December 31, 2026

2. Watch your mailbox for your new AmeriBen ID card mid-December

3. Use the AmeriBen card for care beginning January 1, 2027

4. Give your doctors’ offices and pharmacy your new card information

5. Keep your old card handy for questions about 2026 services

Kaiser HMO members (California Only) if you stay with Kaiser, you will not receive a new ID card unless you have made changes to your enrollment.

Taking a prescription?

Prescription benefits are moving to Navitus, with a 90-day grandfathering period so you can keep filling medications you already take while you transition. Check your medication on the 2027 formulary and confirm your pharmacy participates before your first 2027 fill.

2

Use Continuity of Care Support

Currently receiving care for an injury, illness, or pregnancy?

The BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department can help you keep your care on track. Your doctors and hospitals are not changing, but your plan administrator is, so open authorizations, planned procedures and ongoing treatment are worth a quick check before January 1.

If you or a covered dependent are mid-treatment, or have a procedure scheduled in 2027 that was already approved, reach out and we will work with AmeriBen to confirm what carries over and what, if anything, needs to be resubmitted. You can contact us anytime.

Quick answers

2027 Transition FAQs

What's Changing
What's changing on January 1, 2027?

We're moving to new benefits partners in 2027.

  • Medical plan administrator will transition from Anthem to AmeriBen. The medical plan administrator processes your medical claims and coordinates services with providers.
  • Medical network is not changing. Your PPO and HDHP plans continue to use the Anthem National BlueCard PPO network, so your doctors, hospitals and facilities stay the same. Kaiser HMO (California only) is unchanged.
  • Pharmacy benefits management will move to Navitus, with a 90-day grandfathering period for medications you already take.
  • Dental, life, accident, hospital indemnity, critical illness, disability (short- and long-term) and your employee assistance program move to Sun Life.
What actions do I need to take before the transition?

There is nothing to look up for your doctors; the network is not changing. We recommend you:

  • Watch for your new AmeriBen ID card in the mail and keep using your current Anthem card through December 31, 2026.
  • If you take a prescription, check it against the Navitus formulary and confirm your pharmacy participates before your first 2027 fill.
  • If you are mid-treatment or have a procedure already approved for 2027, contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department so we can confirm your authorization with AmeriBen.

Beyond that, watch for Open Enrollment communications with full details on your 2027 plan options, costs and any actions needed.

Will there be information sessions or enrollment support?

Yes. We are hosting two live presentations where you can ask questions and walk through your options:

In the meantime, the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department is your go-to resource for any questions about this transition, before, during, and after Open Enrollment. You can reach us using any of the following methods:

Hours: Monday – Friday 6am – 5pm PST

There’s no cost to you to call, text or email; standard messaging/data rates from your own carrier plan apply to texts.

Will I need to re-enroll, or will my current elections transfer automatically?

Open Enrollment runs November 9–20, 2026 for coverage effective January 1, 2027. Review and confirm your elections in the enrollment portal at bsh.bswift.com. You must re-elect your HSA, Healthcare and/or Dependent Care FSA each year.

Is there any change in the plan coverage and employee contributions?

Yes. 2027 medical wellness contributions are unchanged from 2026. However, non-wellness contributions are seeing a slightly higher year-over-year increase. Dental and vision employee contributions remain unchanged from 2026. The dental plan moves to Sun Life. See the What’s New section and the 2027 Benefit Guide for your plan costs.

Medical Coverage and Provider Network
Our medical plan administrator is changing. Does that mean my doctors will change?

No. The Anthem National BlueCard PPO network will remain the same. Most employees should be able to continue seeing their current in-network providers, although we encourage you to verify participation before receiving services. The change is the plan administrator (AmeriBen) and your ID card.

What if my doctor is out-of-network today?

Nothing changes. Your plan’s current out-of-network benefits continue to apply. If you have questions about a specific provider or claim, contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department.

Do I need to do anything for my doctor’s office?

Once your new AmeriBen ID card arrives, give your doctors’ offices and pharmacy your new card information so claims are sent to the right place starting January 1, 2027.

Pharmacy & Prescriptions
What is BSH’s new pharmacy benefits provider?

Navitus is our new pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). Navitus will handle your prescription coverage starting January 1, 2027.

Will I receive a separate pharmacy ID card?

No, your pharmacy ID card will be on the back of your medical ID card with AmeriBen.

Will my active prescriptions transfer automatically?

In most cases your current prescriptions should carry over. If your medication is affected by the 2027 formulary, you will be notified. Don’t forget to present your new ID card when you pick up your first prescription in January.

Will I need a new prescription from my healthcare provider?

Not necessarily. You may need a new prescription if your medication is affected by the formulary and requires a different drug, dose or pharmacy. If that applies to you, you’ll be notified ahead of time.

What should I do if my medication is no longer covered or moves to a different tier?

Talk to your doctor about covered alternatives and contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department to understand your options and any cost impact.

How can I avoid running out of medication during the transition?

You’ll have a 90-day grandfathering period beginning January 1, 2027 for medications you already take, so you won’t lose access immediately. Refill before the effective date where possible, and contact us early if you take a specialty or maintenance medication.

Is the mail-order pharmacy changing?

Yes, your mail-order pharmacy will now be through Costco Health Solutions. You do not need a Costco Membership to use the mail order service.

I'm on a specialty medication. What happens to me?

Contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department as soon as possible. Specialty medications often need extra coordination to avoid a gap in therapy during a transition.

Continuity-of-Care
I'm currently in the middle of treatment. How will this change impact me and my treatment?

Your providers are not changing, so you can keep your current care team. Please reach out to the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department before January 1, 2027 so we can help coordinate a smooth transition and confirm anything tied to your treatment, such as approvals and case management.

Do existing prior authorizations or referrals carry over to AmeriBen, or do I need to get everything re-approved?

We will confirm with AmeriBen whether your specific authorization carries over or needs to be resubmitted. Please contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department with your service, date and provider.

Will existing case-management or care-management services transfer to AmeriBen?

Contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department so we can identify your case to AmeriBen’s care management team.

Dental, Vision & Life/Disability
What is happening with my dental benefits?

Your dental plan moves from MetLife to Sun Life. The plan design is very similar (same $50/$150 deductible and $2,000 annual maximum), with a new Preventive Rewards feature that can add up to $1,500 to your annual maximum the following year. Check that your dentist participates in the Sun Life Dental Network.

What's happening with vision benefits?

There are no changes with your vision benefits. They will continue to be the same plans with EyeMed. You will have a Core plan at no cost and a Buy-Up plan with richer benefits.

What about life, accident and disability coverage?

Basic and Voluntary Life/AD&D and Short- and Long-Term Disability move from New York Life to Sun Life. Benefit levels for Basic Life, STD and LTD are unchanged, and voluntary life rates are unchanged. Accident, Hospital Indemnity and Critical Illness also move to Sun Life (from MetLife).

Is there a special chance to elect Voluntary Life?

Yes. Because BSH is moving carriers, Open Enrollment is a special chance to elect Voluntary Life up to the guaranteed issue amount without health questions.

Getting Ready & Open Enrollment
Do I need to do anything right now?

Not much. Watch for your new ID card, check your medications against the Navitus formulary if you take any, and reach out to us if you’re mid-treatment or have a procedure coming up.

What happens if I don’t do anything before 1/1/2027?

Your medical coverage continues with the same network. If you take prescriptions or are in active treatment, a quick check ahead of time helps avoid surprises at the pharmacy or with an authorization.

When is Open Enrollment?

The Open Enrollment period is November 9–20, 2026. Coverage is effective January 1, 2027.

Will I get a new ID card?

Yes. Because you have a new medical plan administrator, you will receive a new AmeriBen ID card. If you haven’t received your card by the time you need it, contact us and we can help you get an electronic copy.

Will my covered dependents receive separate ID cards?

No, dependents will not receive a separate ID card.

Will my member ID or group number change?

Yes. Your member ID and group number are expected to change with AmeriBen. Be sure to use your new ID card for all services starting January 1, 2027.

Should I continue using my current ID card until the effective date?

Yes. Continue using your current Anthem ID card through December 31, 2026. Your new AmeriBen card takes effect January 1, 2027.

When can I create an account on the new providers’ websites or mobile apps?

Provider logins will be available on January 1, 2027. You currently cannot register on the websites or the mobile apps.
