Open Enrollment is Nov 9–Nov 20, 2026 for a Jan 1, 2027 effective date.

Continuity of Care

Mid-treatment for a pregnancy, injury or illness? We’ll help you keep your care on track through the switch to AmeriBen.

What it means for you

You won’t have to start over

If you’re in the middle of an active course of treatment, like a pregnancy, a recent surgery, ongoing cancer treatment, or a behavioral health plan, moving to AmeriBen on January 1, 2027 doesn’t mean losing continuity.

Your medical network is not changing: you keep the same doctors and hospitals. What changes is the plan administrator, so the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department will help you confirm that open authorizations, planned procedures and care-management services move over smoothly.

1

Reach Out Before January 1

Contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department by phone or text and let us know you’re in active treatment or have a procedure coming up. The sooner we hear from you, the more time we have to set things up before your effective date.

2

Share a Few Details

We’ll ask about your condition, your current provider, and where you are in your treatment plan: pregnancy due date, treatment phase, upcoming procedures, existing approvals, etc. No paperwork on your end to start; we’ll guide you through anything that’s needed.

3

We Follow it Through

The BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department works directly with AmeriBen on your behalf, confirming your authorizations and care-management needs and following up until it’s resolved. We’ll stay in touch with you the whole way; you shouldn’t have to chase down the answer yourself.

Common questions

Continuity-of-Care FAQs

Ongoing Treatment & Providers
I’m currently in the middle of treatment. How will this change impact me and my treatment?

Your doctors, specialists and hospitals are not changing, because your medical network (Anthem BlueCard PPO) stays the same. The change is the plan administrator (AmeriBen) and your ID card. Please reach out to the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department before January 1, 2027 so we can help coordinate a smooth transition and confirm anything tied to your treatment, such as authorizations.

can I keep seeing my current provider?

Yes. Because the network is not changing, a provider who is in-network today stays in-network, and your current provider relationship continues. Your plan’s regular in-network and out-of-network benefits still apply. Kaiser HMO members (California only) continue with Kaiser.

Authorizations & Planned Procedures
Do existing prior authorizations or referrals carry over to AmeriBen, or do I need to get everything re-approved?

We will confirm with AmeriBen whether your existing approval carries over or needs to be resubmitted. Please contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department with the service, date and provider so we can check your specific authorization before you need it.

What if I have a surgery, hospitalization or procedure scheduled after January 1, 2027?

Contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department before the transition date so your care team can confirm whether the procedure needs a new authorization with AmeriBen.

Care Management & Prescriptions
Will existing case-management or care-management services transfer over to AmeriBen automatically?

Contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department so we can identify your case to AmeriBen’s care management team and confirm that your care coordination continues.

What about my prescriptions and specialty medications?

Prescription benefits are moving to Navitus, which includes a 90-day grandfathering period for medications you already take. If you take a specialty or infused medication, contact us early so we can help avoid a gap in therapy.

Getting Support
Who may benefit from continuity-of-care support?

You may benefit if you’re in an active course of treatment or have planned care that crosses into 2027, such as:

  • You’re pregnant, at any trimester
  • You’re receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy
  • You’re receiving outpatient intravenous or infusion therapy
  • You’re in the process of staged surgeries or a post-operative recovery period
  • You’re receiving outpatient treatment for a mental health condition or substance use disorder
  • You have a chronic, degenerative, or disabling condition
  • You’re a candidate for, or recipient of, an organ or bone marrow transplant

If any of these apply to you, contact the BSH Human Resources, RNA US Benefit Department so we can review your specific situation.
